St Andrews United 4, Glenrothes Juniors 2

On two minutes St Andrews opened the scoring when Mackie headed home from close range.

The home side had Glenrothes under pressure playing with the wind and a cross by J Gay was plucked out of the air by Sorley in the St Andrews goal.

As Glenrothes pressed for the equaliser, a free kick was headed goalward by Napier, but there were no takers before, on 25 minutes, St Andrews went further ahead when a bad pass-back allowed Sibanda into score.

A cross from Kinnes was just missed by J Gay at the far post, then a cross from Martin on the other side was headed towards goal by Napier, but was saved by Sorley.

The Glens were rewarded for their efforts on 35 minutes when Martin headed home to get them back into the match.

Glens were pressing for the equaliser as a Kinnes cross eluded everyone and two minutes later the referee awarded a very soft penalty from which Sibanda scored.

On 60 minutes Sibanda completed his hat-trick when he scored from what looked an offside position.

Glenrothes pulled another back when a run from Martin allowed Griffin to score from close range at the far post.

Glenrothes were still pushing forward and trying to get themselves back into the match.

A decent chance fell to Martin, but the St Andrews defence cleared the danger.

The Glens never gave up as a shot from J Gay hit the side netting.

Glenrothes will have to pick themselves up when they face Dundonald next week at Warout with a 2.30 p.m. kick off.
