Both teams headed into the game in poor form the points were for the taking.
Hearts enjoyed the majority of possession and deservedly opened the scoring on 26 minutes. Gary Brown set up Scott McKay in front of goal and he drilled the ball into the net.
The home side should have doubled their lead 5 minutes before the break. An excellent shot by Lee Sibanda was palmed away by the ‘keeper for a corner. Gary Sutherland’s corner kick couldn’t beat the first man but the ball eventually fell to Daniel Mason who fired wide.
Cupar Hearts were determined to put right their string of poor second half performances that were costing them important points.
Two minutes into the second period they doubled their advantage. A perfectly placed Gary Sutherland cross allowed Frankie Bell to head in from close range.
Then Gary Brown did well to muscle in on goal but his effort was tipped over the crossbar.
Eastvale grabbed a consolation goal right at the death on 89 minutes leaving Hearts disappointed not to keep a clean sheet.
