Linlithgow Rose prove to be a thorn in the side

Kirkcaldy’s YM’s youngsters found the experience of Linlithgow Rose just too much when they clashed in the East of Scotland Cup on Saturday.

The game turned out to be a complete mismatch, but the YM can console themselves with the fact they won’t come up against quality like the Prestonfield Park side every week.

Rose were 5-0 up at the break as they cruised to a 9-0 victory.

YM will be looking to shrug off the loss when they welcome Arbroath Vics this weekend.

Garry Thomson scored both goals as Thornton Hibs drew 2-2 with Lochee Harp in the first round of the East of Scotland Cup.

Thomson then hit the winning penalty in the shoot-out which the Hibs won 4-3.

This weekend East Craigie will visit Craig Gilbert’s men.

Dundonald knew that a win over Glenrothes would see them go top of the league.

Sadly the local men were unable to get on top, and went down 2-1.

Gilfillan netted for the Bluebell.

On Saturday they welcome Arniston Rangers.
