Right on half-time, Sean Ferrar reduced the deficit as he netted from the penalty spot.

McNab completed his hat-trick in the 51st minute and not long after, Thornton were reduced to 10 men when Ryan McNeil was ordered off for a second yellow card offence.

In the 66th minute, Garry Thomson hit his second with a first-time shot from Chris Ireland’s perfect cross and four minutes later, Raymond Crichton, after just coming on as a sub, netted the Hibs’ seventh. Crichton made it a debut to remember by hitting the final goal five minutes from time.
