RAITH Rovers striker John Baird was the subject of a transfer deadline day swoop by an unnamed SPL club.
SportsPress understands that the club in question offered a player exchange package, which was rejected by the Kirkcaldy club, and Baird was still a Raith player when the transfer window slammed shut at midnight last night (Wednesday).
A Raith spokesman said: “There was some discussion between John McGlynn and another manager regarding one of our players, but nothing was offered that in any way matched Raith Rovers’ valuation of the player concerned.”
Baird is in the final year of his contract at Stark’s Park, but McGlynn is keen for last season’s First Division Player of the Year to see his contract out.
“We can’t bring anyone in so the last thing want to do is lose players,” he said.
“Bringing in another loan player is still a possibility but we’ve not pushed it. We’ll wait and see.”
