The football season starts with a bang this afternoon as Raith Rovers head west for a derby cup clash with Dunfermline Athletic.

East End Park is expected to host a big crowd for the first - and probably only - Fife derby of the 2014-15 season.

There’s an extra edge to the game as Rovers are the cup holders; their memorable win over Rangers when the trophy was known as the Ramsdens Cup.

Now billed as the Petrofac Training Cup, the draw has thrown up a cracking start to Rovers’ defence of the silverware.

They go into the game boosted by a solid performance again st Inverness Caley in a friendly last week which saw the debuts of ex-Rangers defender Ross Perry and goalkeeper Kevin Cuthbert.

The game has as 3.00 p.m. kick-off, and it will be live on Twitter by following Matthew Elder, head of sport, @mattelder_ffp and Allan Crow, editor, @fifefreepressed.
