RAITH Rovers have completed a hat-trick of signings after convincing three out of contract players to pen new deals to stay at the club.

Goalkeeper David McGurn, along with defenders Laurie Ellis and Dougie Hill, have all accepted reduced wages to sign new one-year contract extensions.

They have each signed on a part-time basis, with Ellis and Hill both giving up full-time status to remain at Stark’s Park for another season.

The triple swoop follows on from the capture of Ayr United left back Eddie Malone earlier in the week.

Raith boss John McGlynn told the Press: “It’s great news. We’ve now got a very strong defence in place, and a great goalkeeper to back them up.

“Each player has shown great loyalty to the club. Davie has accepted a wage cut to stay, while both Laurie and Dougie have gone part-time. “Dougie even turned down a better part-time offer from elsewhere, which shows a great commitment to this football club.

“Things are starting to take shape now.”

With John Baird and Willie Dyer confirmed as having signed for rival first division clubs, only out of contract pair Allan Walker and Iain Davidson remain undecided on their Rovers’ future.

Both have been offered contract extensions to stay at Stark’s Park, but with offers from other clubs also on the table, they have yet to commit either way.
