Raith Rovers fans can now raise money for the club by simply shopping online.

Rovers have teamed up with Sports Cashback Company – run by former SFL chief executive David Longmuir – which will see the club receive commission from online retailers used by supporters.

Mr Longmuir explained: “It’s a concept designed to take advantage of the willingness of retailers to pay a small commission for bringing them online traffic.

“It’s very simple, you go onto the Sports Cashback website, you select Raith Rovers from the list of clubs, and you then click through to nearly 1000 well known High Street retailers, who are prepared to pay a commission for the transaction that takes place.

“They will pay that discount back to that nominated sporting cause, in this case Raith Rovers.”

Raith plan to use the scheme to set up a ‘Player Pathway’ fund to help bring through home-grown players.

Tom Morgan, Rovers commercial director, said: “This is a no-brainer for us.

“It’s not going to make millions of pounds but every penny that comes in is well used at a club like ours.

“We’ve got a good nucleus of young players coming through so we’ll be directing the money towards that area.”
