RAITH Rovers manager Grant Murray has targeted three more signings admitting such a scenario would be “perfect”.
Murray is currently in talks with a number of possible acquisitions and hopes to have a trio of new faces on board by the time Sheffield United arrive for the first pre-season friendly on Wednesday, July 10.
Murray said: “At the moment we’re working with the squad we’ve got but obviously we’re looking to add to it.
“We’ve spoken to players we’re looking to bring in, and hopefully we can have the whole squad ready for the start of the friendly games.
“If we can sign three that would be perfect - but not everything is perfect in our league.
“There are players we’ve spoken to and targeted, we want them to be part of the squad.
“If we can get them, great, if they decide to go elsewhere that’s part and parcel of football.
“Boys can give you an indication, but I know in football that it can change within minutes.
“None of them have signed, that’s where we are.”
One of Murray’s key targets is winger Joe Cardle, who is currently taking part in pre-season trainig with the Kirkcaldy club.
“We’d like to sign Joe and hopefully we can get something sorted out,” Murray stated.
“I’ve spoken to him - I know his thoughts and he knows mine.
“I don’t know if other clubs are speaking to him, that’s a private thing for the player.
“I’m just trying to convince Joe that this is place for him to play his best football.”
Murray was able to add to his squad last Friday when the club secured the services of Hibs left back Callum Booth on a season-long loan.
Booth (22), who spent last season on loan at Livingston, was handed a five-year contract at Hibs in 2010 after breaking into the first team at Easter Road, and is capped at U19 and U21 level.
