Tayport will be itching to get back into action tomorrow, having been forced into an idle Saturday last week.

‘Port were left kicking their heels due to scheduled opponents Camelon being involved in the Scottish Junior Cup.

This weekend they welcome Broxburn Athletic to the Canniepairt, where the hosts will be hoping to record a third successive Super League win.

There has been an upsurge in belief amongst the Tayport contingent after victories against Newtongrange Star and Penicuik Athletic saw John Ovenstone’s men close the gap at the bottom of the table.

The frustration at missing out on a fixture last week was compounded by news that near neighbours St Andrews United had moved three points clear, with an impressive 4-0 win against Broxburn.

‘Port do have games in hand but will now face a Broxburn team smarting about that reversal and aiming to put things right tomorrow afternoon.

The opposition currently sit seventh in the table, 15 points ahead of ‘Port, but their results have been very mixed and the Canniepairt outfit have five games in hand.

Player-boss John Ovenstone may be tempted to stick with the same starting XI which accounted for Penicuik, although that would mean ruling himself out, as he had been unavailable for that win.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 2.30pm on the Canniepairt.
