Glenrothes Juniors 3, Montrose Roselea 0

Following the 2-1 victory over Edinburgh United on Wednesday, Glenrothes were looking for another three points in their quest to escape relegation.

A superb run from Martin found Napier but he scuffed his effort before Napier was again involved when he won a corner kick which was clutched out of the air by McLeod in the Montrose goal.

At the other end a long ball over the top had Grieg shooting over the top.

Another long-range shot from Grieg was saved by Chris Gay.

Sawers was causing the Montrose defence a few problems with his in-swinging corners, one of which was headed against the post by the energetic Griffin.

A fine run and cross from Cruikshank was cleared by the Glens defence for a corner. On 50 minutes the injured Macbride was replaced by Bissett.

A long throw-in from Kinnes caused problems but was eventually cleared for a corner, from the resultant kick Forbes had an excellent chance but shot wide.

On 55 minutes Glens took the lead when Napier found Martin who calmly chipped the ‘keeper.

A minute later Martin had a chance to increase the lead when he rounded the ‘keeper only to blast the ball over with the goal at his mercy.

Montrose were reduced to 10 when Whyte was shown a straight red for taking Martin out and, in the referee’s view, preventing a goal-scoring opportunity.

Montrose had a chance when Collier brought out a fine save from Gay.

Kinnes was next up with an effort which the keeper managed to save with his legs, the ball then broke to Anderson who was only prevented from scoring by some stout defending.

Glenrothes extended their lead on 77 minutes when Forbes converted a penalty.

A minute later Wallace struck the crossbar from only a few yards out but made up for it when he tapped the ball in from the same distance a minute later.

The Glens face Forfar West End at Warout on Saturday in their last game of the season.
