STRATHMIGLO bounced back from defeat in the Fife Cup final a week earlier to win the Fence ’n’ Deck Cup in some style on Saturday.

They destroyed Leven United to lift the silverware in the final at Treaton Park, Markinch.

In the opening stages, defensive clearances were the order of the day as both sides played the long ball.

Strath settled first and Leven’s keeper Mitchell got to Skinner’s cross just ahead of McLaughlin, before Ivory’s cross was just too strong for Luke.

However, Ivory opened Strath’s account after 20 minutes when he blasted past Mitchell, despite Leven claims for hand ball.

Leven were upset and looked to reply, but Gibson was more than equal to Wilkie’s free kick.

The Strath keeper then denied Murray, before Ivory turned provider in setting up McLaughlin to hit home Strath’s second.

Before the break, Gibson thwarted Murray while Skinner shot wide for Strath.

After the interval Leven looked for a quick reply, but it was Strath who added to their tally when Woods pounced on a slip-up in the Leven defence to flick in Strath’s third.

Strath were on fire, and Mitchell denied Hampton and Skinner.

Then came a moment of controversy as Ivory skipped past a couple of defenders and looked to be clipped by the keeper, but the Strath man was rather harshly adjudged to have taken a dive and was booked.

Strath continued to press forward, and Skinner crossed for Ivory to cut the ball back to Darren Baillie to tuck home number four.

Leven were demoralised, and Strath added a fifth when Anderson provided the cross for Woods to snatch his second of the afternoon to put the icing on the cake.

Strath: Gibson, Mutch, Patrick, Clark, Skinner, Hampton, Luke, Anderson, Ivory, McLaughlin, Woods, D. Baillie, McIntosh, Duncan, L. Baillie, Leishman.
