Tayport and Sauchie will meet again at the weekend.

Tayport return to East Premier League duty tomorrow when top of the table Sauchie come to town.

The opposition could hardly be tougher, as Sauchie have shown themselves to be the division’s top team, having won eight out of eight fixtures so far, scoring an average of four goals per game in the process.

They currently lead Tayport by six points, with two matches in hand.

Interestingly, both clubs were relegated from the top flight at the end of last term.

‘Port, alongside St Andrews United, ended up in one of the automatic relegation places, while Sauchie had something of a hard luck story.

Having finished their campaign very early, their points tally was eventually overhauled in the closing weeks of the season, leaving Sauchie in the play-off position.

That meant home and away battles against Lochee United, which took place several weeks after their previous competitive fixture.

Consequently, two 5-0 defeats saw the Beechwood Parkers drop a division.

That anguish has clearly been put to one side, with Sauchie now very much in the winning habit.

So, if the Canniepairt outfit are to get back to winning ways after two consecutive 2-0 defeats, they will have to be at their best on Saturday afternoon.

John Ovenstone will be free of suspension and Kieron Conway returns.
