Three points keeps Glens in pole position

Glenrothes were looking to keep their good league run going and stay in pole position in the McBookie.com North Division.

Glens got off to the perfect start taking the lead in the seventh minute when a fine move down the left was cut back by Martin to Napier who swept home from 16 yards. Glens kept the pressure up and another run and cross, this time down the right by Kinnes, was met by Scarborough but his effort was too high.

A minute later the same player had a shot saved by Cargill. Kinnes was next up have his shot saved by the ‘keeper.

Sawers was having some success on the left and was unlucky with an attempt which was tipped over the bar by the ‘keeper.

Another effort from Scarborough just slipped past the post but Glens were rewarded for their domination in the 32nd minute when Martin again turned provider, floating a ball in from the left for Griffin to rise above the defenders and nod home.

Glens continued to have the vast majority of possession after the break but with scant reward.

Glens manager Benny Andrew made the first of his changes when Paterson came on for Kinnes.

Arbroath had a claim for a penalty turned down when an almighty stramash in the box was waved on by the referee.

Andrew rang further changes with Steele for Anderson and Falconer for Scarborough.

Falconer was unlucky not to score when his shot was turned round the post by Cargill.

Glenrothes killed the game of in the 75th minute when a run and cross by Sawers found Napier on the 18 yard line and he hammered the ball home for his second of the game.

Another three points keeps Glens top of the pile with 19 points from a possible 21 thus far.

A break from league duties sees Glenrothes away to crack Superleague side Bonnyrigg Rose in the Fife and Lothians Cup this Saturday, 2.30 p.m kick-off.
