Kirkcaldy YM 1 Broxburn Athletic 5

Super League Broxburn Athletic fully deserved their win in the end in this competititve Fife & Lothians Cup tie.

However, Kirkcaldy YM gave as good as they got for 45 minutes and went in at the interval one goal ahead through a Scott Small strike.

The second half was barely two minutes old when the visitors drew level when Kieran Anderson shot home from just inside the area.

Midway through the second period, YM went behind when Broxburn were awarded a penalty following a hand ball by Kieran Matthew.

Craig Purves scored from the resultant spot kick.

Kirkcaldy were now on the back foot as the Super League side upped the pressure, and it was no surprise that the visitors added to their score with further goals from Anderson, with his second, Nicholas Locke and substitute Alexander Miller.

YM were far from disgraced as they exited the competition, with the penalty kick incident certainly being the turning point in the game.
