Glenrothes Cricket Club’s 1st XI kept their march towards the ESCA Championship title on course with another win on Saturday.

The win over Edinburgh side Murrayfield DAFS took them to 14 wins out of 14.

Having won the toss, club captain Robbie Wright decided to bat first at Gilvenbank Park. Three early wickets brought with it some pressure and it was proving a difficult task.

However, 24 from Guy Hudson and 36 not out from Shane Munro helped the side reach 139 from their 50 overs.

Following some rain the second innings was reduced to 35 overs with Murrayfield set 114 to win in their 35 overs, with the visitors falling 13 runs short in the end.

Next week sees first v second in Edinburgh when the Glens travel to take on SMRH.

The 2nd XI kept their title charge going with a convincing win over Watsonians in Edinburgh.

Stars of the show were Scott Lucas 56 and Chris Humphreys with 70 not out. Glens 2nd XI then set 234 to win in 45 overs. Watsonians were 93 all out in reply and the win closes the gap to top of the table Marchmont.

Glenrothes 3rd XI hosted Murrayfield DAFS 4th XI at Gilvenbank on Saturday and ran out comfortable winners bowling out the opposition for only 79 runs – Dodds Snr 4 for 7 and Alan Hutchison with 2 for 16.

In reply Glens reached their target for the loss of 3 wickets with Robert Hutchison main contributor with 24 runs.

Glenrothes now keep the pressure on top side Carlton who know any slip ups and the Glens are ready to pounce.
