Golfers’ plan in full swing

A PLAN to get more children playing golf in Fife is under way.

Elmwood College and Elmwood Golf Society teamed up recently to run a successful Junior Festival for 40 youngsters.

The college operates an HND Professional Golf course, and the students there will now take them for further coaching as part of the RBS-backed national junior programme ClubGolf.

Elmwood lecturer Anne Laing is behind the programme, which brings together the college, the society, ClubGolf, and Active Schools.

She said: “At Elmwood, we are planning to create a pathway utilising our students and society members which will create a strong junior section in the society.

“Our HND professional golf students will be the coaches for the ClubGolf programme and behind them we have HNC students who we hope to get qualified.”

The first block of coaching starts on November 6.
