Kingdom golfers come to the fore
golf ball on tee
FIFE-based disabled golfers, and their coaches, have taken six of the top 10 slots at the most recent Scottish Order of Merit Championship event, run by the Scottish Disability Golf Partnership.
Golfers from across Scotland took part in the event, held at the Pumpherston Golf Club near Edinburgh, where the players were attempting to qualify for Team Scotland, which, in September, will try to bring back the Auld Enemies Cup from south of the border in their annual Ryder Cup style competition.
Jim Gales, founder of the organisation, said: “The course was in great condition but a real challenge to our players, with lots of bunkers and numerous ponds and heavy rough to negotiate.
“We had several new golfers and coaches with us that day and special mention has been made of the warm welcome and smashing condition of the greens.”
