Grizzlies in Play-Offs

A TREMENDOUS display of hockey saw all four Glenrothes Grizzlies age groups make it to the play-off finals at Kirkcaldy Ice Rink this weekend.

Under 10s played Dundee Ducks and romped home easy 8-2 winners with their rivals from over the Tay, struggling to keep up with the pace of the youngsters. Under 12s played Dundee Ducks and again made the going look easy against the larger bench of the Tayside team - with the final score an easy 5-1 win. Under 14s played Dundee Ducks but didnt fair as well as their younger team mates and the battle of the netminders ended a 6-4 win to Dundee with both keepers literally standing on their heads to make some of the saves. Under 16s was a fast end to end game, and again it was a battle of the goalies but Grizzlies net minder easily outshone his Dundee counterpart. With just under two minutes left Dundee pulled their netminder, Grizzlies got a break away into an empty net hammering the final nail into the Ducks coffin with a 4-1 win. It’s been a very successful year for all age groups at the Glenrothes Grizzlies with the two youngest squads making it a grand slam year (the second year in a row for Under 10s) taking home the Play Offs, League and Canadian Cup Silverware. Another massive achievement for Under 10s went to James Spence who won the Rosie Shield which is awarded to the Best Rookie of the Year.

14s were runner up in the Play Offs and 16s won Play Offs and were runner up in the League and Canadian Cup. Glenrothes Grizzlies are currently recruiting new team members - if you would like to be a member of this award winning squad, call Murray Jamieson on 0785 234 3627 or visit: www.glenrothesgrizzlies.com
