JULIE Carr from Balmullo has been named Scottish Junior Tenpin Bowler of the Year.

Sixteen-year-old Julie has been a member of Leuchars Youth Tenpin Bowling Club since the age of five, and is the first club member to have received the accolade.

The announcement was made by Mark Hutton, president of the Scottish Association of Youth Bowling Clubs.

Julie has been a member of the Scottish junior squad for two years, being selected to play for Scotland internationally in 2010 for the Triple Crown tournament held in London, where she picked up a silver medal.

CAPTAIN

She then played for Scotland in the 2011 Triple Crown held in Dublin, where she was captain of the under 16 girls team and picked up another silver medal.

Julie is now hoping to be selected to play in the tournament again this year when it takes place in Wales.

Last year, she played for the Scottish ladies in the Triple Crown tournament held in Norwich, and also won the Scottish junior open under 16 age group in September, despite being injured.

Julie previously won the under 12s open in 2007, and over the years has picked up numerous trophies at Scottish tournaments.
