TWENTY-five years had elapsed since Balwearie High School had any success at the Scottish Schools Road Relay Championships.

That was amply revised by Adam Scott, James Berry, Ben Potrykus and Bruce Millar, who on Saturday won the 4 x 2237m medley relay in 29 minutes 54 seconds at Grangemouth.

Adam’s opening stage of seven minutes 33 seconds saw the quartet off to a good start in second place before James Berry’s 8.02 swept Balwearie into the lead over stage two.

Joining the Fife AC trio over the third leg was Pitreavie’s Ben Potrykus who clocked 7.11 before Bruce Millar’s 7.06 over the anchor stage rounded off a well deserved victory.

Delighted Balwearie head teacher James More said: “We are extremely proud of the boys’ achievement.

“Running within the school and local club is very strong at the moment and the recent investment of money in re-laying the running track is contributing to that success.

“The boys will undoubtedly feature in our awards ceremony at the end of the session.”
