THE Disability Sport Fife bowls squad have finished second in the Inter-Area Test Match for bowlers with a learning disability.

Held in Glasgow, the match had to be quickly moved from Fairfield Bowling Club to Castlemilk Indoor Bowling Club, resulting in some swift reorganising of the format - which produced one of the most exciting finishes in the three year history of the event.

In session one both the West of Scotland men’s and women’s teams managed to defeat the Fife side 7-5.

In session two the Fifers came back very strongly and managed a 15-9 victory over the combined team from Highland, Forth Valley and Dundee. In their final tie, against Lothian, Fife recorded an overall victory of 13-11.

West of Scotland took the title with 41 points, Fife finished three points behind on 38. Lothian were third on 35 and the combined side finished on 30.
