THREE young boxers from Denbeath ABC were in action at Ravenscraig, Motherwell, competing in the Scottish Schoolboy and Junior Championships.

Calum Smith (13), from Methil, the current Eastern District Champion, was first in the ring but had to settle for silver this time out, losing a hard-fought final to a more experienced opponent from Cleland ABC in Lanarkshire.

Next for Denbeath was 14-year-old Nathan Levers, also from Methil. After winning a tough semi-final, Nathan just lost out in a close final to his opponent from Alloa ABC.

Denbeath’s third boxer in action was two-time Scottish Champion, Jack Brunton. The 16-year-old also had to be content with silver this year, losing the 52kg final to his opponent from Dennistoun, Glasgow.

Both Jack and Nathan will be representing Scotland in the British Championships in June. Everyone connected with Denbeath ABC is wishing them every success.
