A CUPAR orienteering enthusiast has navigated his way to the top of the sport.

Brian Porteous (61) has been appointed president of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF) — the highest position in the sport.

He was elected for a two-year period at the 2012 IOF General Assembly, replacing the retiring Åke Jacobson of Sweden.

Brian, who lives in Westfield Road, began orienteering at St Andrews University, where he was a founder member of the orienteering club.
