EAST Fife Ladies travelled to Carnoustie looking to put their Scottish Cup defeat behind them and take three points in their second league tie.

The Fifers were soon one up when a Mowbray corner was met at the back post by Anderson, who headed the ball powerfully home.

East Fife’s second goal came from Irvine, an under-17 player making her first senior appearance this season.

Both Fife strikers were involved in the build-up, playing the ball wide to Irvine who had cut in from the left and slotted a cool left-footed shot beyond the Monifieth ‘keeper.

The second half started brightly with Irvine driving down the left, beating the Monifieth full back along the bye line, before cutting the ball back to the edge of the box for the midfield run of Clark, who hit a thunderous shot inside the right hand post.

Skivington scored the fourth goal of the game. She saw her first and second shot brilliantly saved by the keeper, before scoring from her third attempt. The same player also netted the fifth of the game.

Mowbray got on the score sheet after the ball landed kindly for her to sneak it in at the near post.

The final goal of the game saw Clark get her second.

The East Fife coaching staff said: “The scoreline did not flatter us.

“It has been a great weekend for the club with our under- 11s playing very well at their festival in Dundee and our under 13s coming back from 4-1 down in their Scottish Cup tie to Arbroath”
