Four wins for Rennie at Racewall

Formula II action from April 28 2012

Formula II action from April 28 2012

THERE was a minute’s silence prior to the start of the meeting at the Cowdenbeath Racewall as the sport remembered former National Hot Rod driver Malcolm Chesher, who passed away on April 23.

Once the action got under way in the formula IIs Chris Burgoyne won the two opening heats with Gordon Moodie (Windygates) winning the final.

In the Grand National Andy Bertram went on to win from Burgoyne.

In the saloons heat one saw Irvine go through to win, as he did in heat two.

Alexander raced to victory in the final ahead of Irvine and Stuart Shevill Jnr in third.

The ministox drivers were in good form in round one of their Disco trophy.

Heat one saw Liam Rennie go through to win, as he did in heat two, and in the third race Rennie made it three wins on the trot. Their last race of the night gave Rennie his fourth win from C. McGowan and Johnston.

In the junior bangers Shaun Riddell took heat one while Daniel Davidson took the honours in heat two. In a rather depleted field Callum McIvor (Dunfermline) took an early lead and held on to win.

This Saturday the formula IIs are back along with the saloons, stock rods and lightning rods. The saloon drivers are having their second round of the white/yellow challenges series with the meeting starting as usual at 6pm.
