ROVERS travelled to Windygates for the semi-final of the Premier League Cup.

The home side started well and went ahead after five minutes when a good cross from the left wing was headed in at the back post.

They then doubled their lead with 10 minutes of the half remaining when another cross from the left was not properly cleared and they had a player on hand to score from six yards.

Greig Park went three up with a shot from just inside the box that curled into the far corner of the net.

However they were then reduced to 10 men later in the game while Rovers were working hard to try and get a first goal which would put them back into the tie.

The home side had another player sent off as the game entered the final 15 minutes, and with Rovers pushing forward, Greig Park almost got a fourth when they broke up the park, but Rovers’ ‘keeper Garry Bowman saved well.

Pittenweem finally got a goal with under 10 minutes left when Derek Ireland laid the ball back for David Young to strike the ball home from the edge of the box.

With the game in its final minutes, both teams had a player sent off, before Greig Park saw out the rest of the game.
