Jay Hogg and James Ford jnr

PICTURED are two of the three Shotokan 2000 Karate Club members who have won medals in major competitions recently.

In the Scottish Grand Prix Jay Hogg (right) won a silver medal in the 14-15 under 50 kilos kumite event.

James Ford Junior (left) went one better and won a gold medal at the same Grand Prix in the over-18 kata event.

Cailum Duffin, not pictured, also won a silver medal in the over 50 kilos event at the competition.

All three then travelled to Cumbria with their instructor and coach James Ford Senior, to compete in the Cumbria Open, this was there first time in England competing, both Jay and Cailum done well on the day, Jay reaching the quarter finals. But the massive success of the Open was James Ford Junior who won gold in the over-18 kata event.

Full report from both tournaments on page 38.
