Lundin mix it up for Craigmuir

Lundin Sports..............6.5

Craigmuir....................2.5

LUNDIN Sports Club’s second match of their Henderson Vase campaign saw them entertain a depleted Craigmuir side who had travelled from Dundee with only two couples - resulting in Lundin gaining a three point advantage before a ball was even served.

Holiday commitments saw a change of line up with Anne Cowan and Douglas Allan being paired as first couple.

They breezed through the encounter, showing some lovely doubles play, defeating the opposition 6-1, 6-4 in both ties.

Playing second couple were the vastly experienced pairing of Ann Hill and Stuart Kerr. In the first tie, against Craigmuir’s first couple of Reeve and Semple, they managed to blow a 5-1 lead in the first set and went on to lose 7-6, 6-3. In the second and final tie of their evening they recovered from a slow start to find some of their usual form to win 6-4, 6-1.

Lundin’s third couple were the unchanged pairing of Susan Kerr and Robert Cuthbertson, they picked up the first set 6-3 against the husband and wife pairing of Joss and Joss. However, in a hugely entertaining second set the opposition sneaked the set 7-6 on a tiebreak.

In the last round of matches they struggled to get a grip against a Craigmuir first paring who ran out 6-3, 6-0 winners in a score line that flattered them.

Overall an excellent 6.5 to 2.5 win for Lundin Sports maintaining their 100 per cent start to the season, despite the unusual lineup.
