Methilhill put six past Gers

METHILHILL ran out easy winners in this local derby with Greig Park Rangers at Herd Park.

Both sides passed up early chances to take the lead, Greig Park having a shot tipped on to the post by the home side’s ‘keeper Darren Mathewson.

At the other end Craig Seath ran at the Rangers defence and was brought down for a penalty.

Calum Thompson made no mistake and made it 1-0 to Methilhill.

Just before half time a cross from James Good was headed home by Brian Simpson, to double their advantage.

At the start of the second half Calum Thompson was brought down in the box for another penalty.

He picked himself up and made it 3-0.

Ten minutes later a cross from Jit Singh was met by a Phil Russell header, which went into the net, to make it 4-0. With 20 minutes remaining Thompson secured his hat-trick when he lobbed the keeper to make it 5-0.

And 10 minutes later Darrin Forrest grabbed his first goal for the club to make it 6-0.

With time running out Greig Park scored a quick free-kick to secure a late consolation goal.
