Sluggish start costs Swallows

ST MONANS SWALLOWS met Glenrothes Amateurs for the second time in as many weeks in the league at Recreation Park.

The home team made their usual slow start so it was no surprise when they lost an early goal.

Sloppy defending allowed the away team to scramble the ball home.

Almost immediately the Swallows struck back when McGilvary broke through the heart of the Glenrothes defence to slot home.

McGilvary then headed over from a great Ireland cross and Young drove wide.

This was to prove costly as Glenrothes regained the lead from a close range header.

Swallows threw caution to the wind and bombarded the opposition but still could not get an equaliser.

However, in time added on, Fyall kneed the ball home from a corner to give Swallows a point they deserved.

Sponsor was Quality Fish Merchant William Jardine.
