PUPILS at Waid Academy have been celebrating a year of sporting success after taking top places in basketball and badminton tournaments.

Third year pupil Ellie Hall (pictured) entered the Fife Schools Badminton Tournament for the first time in February where she beat the number one seed 21-11 in the final to become the under 14 girls’ singles champion for 2012.

Meanwhile the school’s basketball team, Waid Magic, took first place in the Fife Schools Basketball League for the first time since 1971, while the school’s B team, Waid Thunder, came second in the league.

The school said it was proud of how the pupils applied themselves and said they deserved to take the top two places.
