Cupar swimmers at novice meet

CUPAR and District Swimming Club entered a small squad of swimmers in the recent InCAS Distance Meet at Carnegie Leisure Centre and were delighted to come away with a bundle of personal best times.

The swimmers, who have been focussing on technique over the last six months, were entering many events for the first time at these distances and proved that the hard work put in over the winter is producing great results.

Two medals winners were Abby Hay, swimming in the 800m free for the first time competitively, and Lewis Baillie in the 400m IM, also swimming competitively at that distance for the first time.

Nine-year-old Corrie Hay took part in a taster race 200m IM and produced a great time of 3.53.03.

Catriona Cleary and Alexandrea Smith Mackay entered the 400m free for the first time, with Alexandrea producing a time of 5.48.10, only one second away from a bronze squad qualifying time.

Oliver Carter was delighted to shave 6.14 seconds off his 200m back stroke time, Lewis Baillie improved his 200m IM time by 3.80 seconds down to 3.01.96 and Callum MacPherson took 2.67 seconds off his 200m freestyle.

New members are always welcome at Cupar and District Swimming Club.
