Szaranek and team mates triumph at Xcite
Carnegie Swimming Club head coach John Szaranek
A local swimming club is celebrating a much-anticipated win following its successful performance at a regional championship competition.
Mark Szaranek, aged 16 from Glenrothes, along with his Carnegie Swimming Club squad members, triumphed at the recent East District Age Group Championships held at Xcite Leisure Centre in Bathgate, bringing home the Solripe Cup, a trophy which had been held by Warrender Baths Club for the past 12 years.
The Carnegie club is putting its well-deserved win down to the youngsters’ hard work, and, improved individual performances as a result of regular and fixed training times at the newly-refurbished Carnegie Leisure Centre.
The Centre, which is managed and operated by Fife Sports and Leisure Trust – the region’s leading provider of sports and leisure facilities – now offers a conveniently-located training facility, meaning most squad members can spend more time in the water training rather than travelling to an alternative pool.
