Zach runs to new road race record

CELLARDYKE athlete Zach Delaney was in record-breaking form for Fife AC at the fourth race in the recent Beveridge Park 5km Road Series at Kirkcaldy.

Following a keen tussle all the way around the hilly road circuit, Polish runner Bartek Gorczyca edged ahead along the final run-in to post a winning 16 minutes 06 seconds, with Zach just four seconds adrift, timed at a new under-20 record of 16.10.

Dan Newman placed sixth, first veteran, edging out club junior Scott Bernard in seventh by just seven seconds.

George Black ran an amazing race to place 22nd overall, clocking an over-70 veteran record of 22 minutes 51 seconds.

Fife AC is also hosting the popular five-day Tour of Fife, which started on Wednesday.
