THE golfing experience at Aberdour Golf Club is amongst the best in Scotland a new poll has revealed.
Readers of the Scottish golf magazine Bunkered were asked to vote for their favourite courses recently and the local course finished an impressive fourth.
The winning course was Turnberry in Ayrshire.
Kingsbarns was runner up and in third place was Gleneagles, followed by Aberdour.
Club captain Dave Erskine said: “Aberdour golf course is absolutely unique.
“I have played many courses in Scotland and there is not another like it.
“And the views across the Firth of Forth are absolutely stunning.”
Bunkered golf magazine editor Bryce Ritchie added: “To bag votes in this poll, you had to be something extra special, and Aberdour is certainly that.
“A richly deserved top five finish for a fantastic course on the banks of the Forth.”
Mike Cantlay, chairman of VisitScotland, said that Scotland continued to be the home of the sport.
He added: “There is no doubt Turnberry is a very worthy winner of this particular accolade but you only have to look at the diverse nature of the courses in the list to realise what a special golf offering we have and how well we welcome the world into our country.”
