The Emirates Arena in Glasgow played host to hundreds of children taking part in the hugely popular Scottish Schools Indoor Athletics Championships.

Fife AC juniors certainly made their mark on the competition, with no fewer than three medals, a championship best performance and a handful of personal best performances.

Adam Scott (Balwearie High School) added another medal to his ever expanding collection, winning the under 16 boys’ 1500m by over 15 seconds.

Adam’s impressive winning time of 4.08.62 was a championship best performance, an outright personal best and sees him jump to third in the UK under 17 boys’ rankings in his first year in the age group.

It was a special day for Euan Boyle (Kinross High School) who took his first ever Scottish School title when winning the under 16 boys’ 800m.

Euan’s time of 2.03.76 was over two seconds ahead of his nearest rival and places him third in the Scottish under 17 boys’ rankings in his first year in the age group.

Annabel Simpson (Kilgraston) won her training group’s third medal of the competition when coming second in the o16 girls’ 1500m.

Annabel’s time of 4.43 places her second in the Scottish under 20 women’s rankings.

In the same race, Ailsa Cruickshanks (Waid Academy) came ninth in 5.04.48 having already run a PB of 5.03.72 earlier in the day in her heat. Issy Olsen (Madras College) came ninth in 1.50m in what was an extremely competitive under 16 girls’ high jump.

The competition was so close that the entire top ten were only separated by 5cm.
