FIFE bowlers made amends for previous disappointments when they defeated the Borders by five shots at Gala Waverley in the Hamilton Trophy.
At the last end, Wayne Hogg saved a big count and, when this was combined with Gareth Curran finishing with a two and a single, Fife won the match by five shots.
Both sides had three winning fours with Fife skips, Wayne Hogg, Jimmy Forbes and Colin Falconer, all finishing ahead of their rivals.
David Comrie lost by only two shots against Alan Brady and Gareth Curran went down by three against Ian Crawford, while Christopher Stein, promoted to skip, finished seven shots behind R. Kerr.
The National Championships for District Seven start on Sunday for the mixed pairs and on Monday for the other competitions.
