Burntisland sprinter Ryan Oswald has been named in the Scotland team for this weekend’s Sainsbury’s Glasgow International match.
Oswald will compete in the 150m race at the brand new state-of-the-art Emirates Arena, the venue that will host this summer’s Commonwealth Games - an event the 24-year-old Fifer hopes to qualify for.
The Pitreavie Athletics Club runner will be up against British 200m number one James Ellington and former world 100m champion Kim Collins on Saturday.
History will be made at the event as Scotland compete for the first time against Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the USA and a Commonwealth Select.
Stephen Maguire, Scottish Athletics’ Director of Coaching, said: “It will be a massive experience for the Scotland team.
“It will be a sold out Emirates Arena and gives the team an opportunity to compete in front of a Scottish crowd and that is great preparation – that’s the way I’m looking at it.”
Oswald is currently in the running for Kirkcaldy & District Sports Personality of the Year, having won both the 100m and 200m at the Scottish Senior Championships in 2013.
