Last weekend Eck Anderson tackled 18 miles of tough hilly terrain at the Two Breweries hill race in the Borders in a time of 4.17.

Haddies ran a variety of races over differing terrains this weekend. The seasoned hill running members were in action in the Trossachs and in Glencoe. Jonny and Thomas Knox ran the Ben Venue hill race, with Jonny excelling to claim 3rd MV prize in 1.21, followed by Thomas in 1.31.

Eck opted for the hills once more, this time running the 26.2 miles of the Glencoe marathon and finishing well up the field in 4.43 (23rd place). Debz Hay also ran a fine race, finishing the gruelling route in 6.18. Jim Hogsflesh, who chose one of the toughest marathons for his debut at the distance, completed the route over the Devil’s Staircase and part of the West Highland Way with training partners and fellow Haddies, Geordie Hay and Dougie Campbell in a time of 7.24.

Meanwhile, on flatter ground and better conditions, but nevertheless tough, Christine Bowie ran the Great Glasgow 10k run on Saturday, finishing in 57.31, with Carole Fraser completing the city centre road race in 1.05.45.

Also on road, but much closer to home, Bill Simpson completed the annual Giffordtown 5k road race on Sunday morning, taking a fantastic 21.41 for the out and back course.

Training tonight (Wednesday) takes place from the sports centre at the Waid at 6.30 p.m. As the nights begin to darken, can all runners please ensure they are dressed in appropriately bright or reflective clothing. New members always welcome.
