A Cardenden heavyweight boxer captured the Scottish Novice title at the Ravenscraig Sports Facility in Motherwell last weekend.
The tournament, hosted by Boxing Scotland, is the biggest competition in the United Kingdom, with over 200 bouts held over two weeks.
Kirk Smith, of the Cardenden club, had to box twice to secure the title.
His first contest on the Saturday saw him drawn against the much fancied Inverness boxer, Alex Tulloch.
The contest was explosive from start to finish with the result pinned on the last round.
Kirk stalked his opponent into the neutral corner and tagged him with a devastating right hand which saw the Inverness boxer take the full count.
The final held on the Sunday had Kirk facing the favourite, Tom Robson from the Hawick club in the Borders, who only had one defeat on his card.
The contest highlighted boxer versus puncher over three highly competitive rounds, which saw the Cardenden boxer win on unanimous decision.
The Cardenden club were very unlucky to see their girl boxer, Lindsey Robinson, lose a hotly disputed split decision over Inverness girl Laura Mckay.
The local girl forced the pace over the full three rounds dominating the contest but lost on a new flawed scoring system.
