Ceres Highland Games was a landmark occasion for Coaltown of Balgonie veteran athlete John Thomson.
John made his debut on the games circuit in 1969 when he competed in the boys’ marathon at the village event.
His weekend victory in the 3000 metres handicap was his 11th triumph on the Bow Butts.
More importantly, this was the 125th win on the games circuit for the 53 year-old.
His winning time on Saturday was nine minutes, 22.82 seconds.
In the youth running events at Ceres, Dylan Lindsay, Glenrothes was runner-up in the 800m and fifth in both the 90m and 200m handicaps.
On the bikes, the heavy going wasn’t to the liking of Glenrothes rider, Tim Allan, but he managed runner-up spots in both the 800m and 5000m handicaps.
