CRAIL’S Balcomie Links golf course has been nominated as one of the best in Scotland by the sport’s trade body.

Golf Tourism Scotland has included the local course among the candidates at its Gold Standard Awards, which celebrate the very best in the sport.

Also nominated in other categories are Crail Golfing Society in the Secretatait of the Year category and Doreen Mayes from Crail Golfing Society as Caddiemaster of the Year.

“There is always a great deal of anticipation in the run-up to the Gold Standards Awards,” said Lee Derrick, chairman of GTS.

“We receive nominations from every sector of Scotland’s golf tourism industry, which demonstrates some of the fantastic work done this year across the country.

“By the time the winners are announced at the dinner, the sense of expectation in the room is palpable, and that makes for a wonderful night.”

The GTS Gold Standard Awards will be held at Fairmont St Andrews on Thursday, November 3.
