Junior Cricket in Fife has received a boost through the creation of two community coach posts.

The initiative from Cricket Scotland, Fife Council and local clubs will enable the coaches - one based in the north of the region and the other in the south - to visit primary and secondary Schools and liaise with local clubs to provide further coaching. The ‘north’ coach will work with Largo, Falkland, Freuchie and Glenrothes, whilst the ‘south’ coach will work with Dunfermline Knights, Broomall and Dunnikier.

Spokesman Lindsay Ferguson said: “These appointments are building upon a strong base of youth cricket which already exists in Fife and Tayside.

“The contracts are on a part-time basis and will run from early March until July.

“In addition to visiting schools the coaches will organise Fife wide Kwik Cricket Festivals and arrange a programme of summer coaching camps.”
