GLENROTHES 2nd XI v Kismet 2nd XI
SKIPPER Ally Sim won the toss and put the visitors into bat on a dry(ish) but soft track.
A great effort from John Bell and the groundskeeping team to prepare a pitch at all after the rains of last week.
Glenrothes bowlers had a good day with the ball, squeezing Kismet to 87 all out.
In the wickets Robert ‘Bod’ Hutchinson 4-29, Kris Glen 3-15 and one each for Memhood Khan and Willie Morrsison. The bowlers aided by catches from Sam Bowers and Grandad McAuley.
The Skipper sent out Kris Glen and Willie Morrison to see what was what. A watchful start from both openers and 19 after 6 overs before Kris holed out to the only outfielder in the deep, who took his catch well.
Ally Sim started positively taking on the bad ball and blocking out those on a good line and length. A nick to the wicket keeper saw the skipper gone and Andy Muir to the crease.
With Willie Morrison looking unruffled and in control, the pair continued at a steady pace and closed the game out in the 27th over - an excellent 38 not out from Willie; and a positive knock of 20 not out from Andy Muir
All in all a match played in excellent spirit, on a sunny day, with a small gathering of spectators, and a professional job from the Glens team.
It’s early days in the season but the signs are looking good for the Glens 2nd XI, which because of players number is fast becoming the hardest team to not only get into, but to stay in.
