St Andrews’ golfer, Ewan Scott - the Scotland Boys’ International - continued a superb season with overall victory in the Faldo Junior Series Scottish Qualifier at Panmure last week.
The 17-year-old already tops the SGU Boys Order of Merit and is set to extend his lead with the Faldo qualifier counting to the merit rankings.
Ewan posted a five-under-par 65 in the opening round, establishing a three-stroke lead over SGU National Boys colleague, Jamie Savage, in the 36-hole event.
In windier conditions, he added a second-round 74 for a one-under-par winning total, triumphing by a single stroke from Calum Hill (Tantallon) after he posted 72, 68.
In a predominantly Scottish field for the qualifier, Cawder’s Savage was third on one-over-par following rounds of 68 and 73.
It was Ewan’s second win of the year, after his triumph at the Golf Data Lab Scottish Youths at Ladybank in May.
The Madras College pupil has posted an impressive seven top-10s in all in 2012, also featuring his runner-up finish to Peebles’ Craig Howie at the Paul Lawrie Foundation Scottish Boys Championship.
He came out on top in the Under-18 category at Panmure, with Callum Cochrane (Marriott Dalmahoy) finishing fourth overall and winning the Under-16 section on four-over-par.
