THE McEwan family from Glenrothes have written themselves into the history of Elmwood Golfing Society.
But dad, mum and daughter may well have also won a place in the Guinness Book of Records after completing an incredible hat-trick.
DadWillie won the men’s handicap championship at the Stratheden club.
Then mum Irene took the honours in the ladies’ scratch competition.
Completing the feat, daughter Angela emerged winner in the ladies handicap championship.
“It’s quite an achievement,” Willie said.
“Like everything else, you have your good days and you have your not so good days. Thankfully, we all managed to have good days when we played the competitions.
“My wife Irene was down at the turn and she managed to fight back to win and Angela was winning early on and saw it through.
“I managed to play pretty consistently and won as well.
“The prize giving ceremony was renamed the McEwan family day out, which made us all laugh.
“Elmwood is a great club for us. We like to play as much as we can, so the family season ticket there suits us perfectly.”
Club secretary Willie Cargill, who has contacted record book organisers, said: “It is quite a story, with three members of the same family taking all three trophies.”
