EAST Fife Ladies met Hibs 1875 in the first round of the League Cup.

Mowbray fired in a low corner, which was dummied by Clark for Skivington to fire in a low effort for the Fifers.

The ‘keeper saved but the ball rebounded to Wylie, who hit the bar with her effort, and Reilly’s follow-up was saved.

Hibs were limited to long-range efforts and, on the one occasion they did get through the Fife defence, Hamilton was quick to gather the ball.

East Fife had the wind behind them in the second half and had many efforts from distance.

The closest they came to a goal was from a throw, with Anderson turning her defender and passing the ball into the bottom left hand corner, only for the goalkeeper to make the save of the game.

With 10 minutes remaining, and both sides pushing for a goal, Hibs broke the deadlock.

A long ball was played forward from defence to a striker who lobbed the Fife ‘keeper.

East Fife’s under-17s won 3-2 away to Boroughmuir at the weekend, having been 2-0 down, with goals from Nicholson (2) and Irvine.
