FIFE bowlers gave themselves a chance of qualifying for the final of the Scottish Senior’s Championship after travelling to Mayfield in Edinburgh last Monday.
The local side returned victorious to the Kingdom after defeating their hosts, Edinburgh and Leith, by a massive 16 shots.
This could have been an even better victory, had local player John Callaghan not sadly lost eight shots over the final two ends.
Callaghan ended up as Fife’s only loser, finishing six shots behind Adam Davidson.
Roy White, on the other hand, was Fife’s biggest winner, defeating Willie Paul by 10 shots.
Kenny Balfour and Mike Rollo both maintained their good form.
Balfour defeated Ian Combe by eight shots and Rollo defeated Brian Smith by four.
Details of the fixture were: Edinburgh and Leith 50, Fife 66. Individual scores (Edinburgh skips first) were:
I. Combe 10, K. Balfour 18; A. Davidson 19, J. Callaghan 13; B. J. Smith 13, M. Rollo 17; W. Paul 8, R. White 18.
