Team Leslie Bike Shop / Bikers Boutique rider Téa Jensen got off to a solid start at the first Scottish Downhill Series of the year at Ae Forest in Dumfries.
The weather unusually cooperated as the sun shone over the entire weekend giving dry and fast conditions.
Ae is famous for some huge features including step-downs, double jumps and the infamous ‘Elevator’ which is a 30 metre near vertical drop in to the finish arena.
Téa has trained hard along with her team mates over the winter months and was raring to go. Due to her age Téa has moved up in to the British Youth category but still has to race against girls up to four years older.
This however didn’t phase the plucky Windygates teen as she looks on the age difference as more of a challenge.
A cautious race one saw Téa sit in fifth place and after a look at some different line choices she went up for her second race run.
The weekend saw the majority of girls including Téa rolling over a big double jump just before the finish, but unknown to everyone she had a game plan.
Téa rode a smooth controlled run she accelerated in to the double clearing it easily much to the dismay of the other girls who had been rolling it. This gave Téa valuable seconds as she crossed the line in second place to ensure an overall third.
pThe team travel back to Ae this weekend for the first round of the British Downhill Series.
